Political Blahhhg

Today was interesting. We went downtown to see Gina's rowing mate, Sally Clark, get sworn in as the newest City Council member. And if today's 15 minute meeting was any indicator, we wish her all the best. Can you say "zz zzz" ? The meeting portion was a sleeper, and this was with no agenda items.

But the swearing in part was great. The Conibear Rowing Club was well represented. And rowdier than the other groups of family and friends that came to support Sally. But that's to be expected of the jock crowd.

And the bonus was we got to meet "celebrity" council woman Jean Godden. Jean wrote a column for the Seattle P I forever. The local scene, name dropping, funny, good reading. I was actually sorry to see her run for office. I liked the column. That's her shooting off poppers or something. Maybe it's a light sabre. Sally is going to have to mind her p's & q's sitting next to her.

The rest of the day was spent sitting in bath tubs at various stores while Gina measured, of course. "How do you like that angle of lay back?" And standing on carpet samples. "ooh, that's comfy" "ooh, that's $9000 a square foot".

And so it begins.

$9000 a square foot? um, more like $9027.89, thank you.... i would appreciate your accuracy.

hahhahahaah just kidding. With all of Traci's comments, i can't afford to throw a fit over accuracy.

that woman is JEAN GODDEN ! I guess maybe you didn't read the PI when you were here. Even though we told everyone you could at age 2. BRILLIANT !

and i guess it's some paper streamer. sally's a little nervous about her seat position next to her. She's old, and a little crazy. we talked to her a bit. you know what celebrity hounds we are. This is almost as good as Mary Kay LeT.

So, now you're hobnobbing with the political bigwigs of the city! We'll expect to hear some of the inside scoop now on Seattle poli tics. The biggest question of the day in Portland city politics is how much can the mayor bring to the table to help the school district with our $57million shortfall. It won't be even close so we'll be facing some more ugly draconian cuts again this year. Sigh. I wonder if there are any principal vacancies in So. California.
