Running was discussed

There was very little exercising done this weekend, other than lifting of heavy forks and full glasses. We were being totally sympathetic for/of/with (what is it?) Joan. Her knee went totally out of whack on Sat. Major pain. I tried to medicate her with the help of Dr. Jameson. I think it must have helped. I know I felt no pain. :) Here's hoping you get back to the Y soon. You're looking great!

However, there was much discussion of past races, upcoming races, biking and triathlons, sports injuries, work out routines (Silver Sneaker award to Mom) , training issues, age group wins (Way to go, Aileen !) , prize money won (Way to go, Catherine !) . Bike accidents. ("you so tall", Kris) , fun and not so fun events (how/why did you jump in that frozen lake, Karin? ) , giving up surfing at the Oregon coast (wise decision, Karla) mountain biking (helmets & health insurance, Joel),

ok, enough of this rambling. I know what you want, MORE PHOTOS !!!

fyi, that's Kris doing his imitation of the French version of the March of th Penguins. The Morgan Freeman version did not make it to Japan.
that's Aileen doing her imitation of an Adelie (?) penguin rolling it's eyes.
and that's Aileen after 7 days of answering penguin related questions. have you seen "March of the P's?"

Great photos! All except for that apparently dead girl on the oriental carpet, and perhaps that one of the mysterious character with green underpants on his head.

One looks like a promo for Law & Order and the other looks like a promo for a bad Jerry Springer show (are there ever any good ones?)

Do let me know when you find the "perp" for the dead girl.

Actually, one of the funniest moments of the evening was when both Aileen and Kris opened gifts with boxer shorts and simultaneously both put them on their heads - dates back to some dark incident in their deeply troubled childhoods, I believe.
Also, an update on the knee situation: improving enough to be able to go to the Y today. Hooray!Avoided the elliptical walker and bicycles, but did fine with the treadmill and weight machines. Will continue with rest and the Dr. J treatment to be on the safe side.
And that "dead" girl is now on a ship somewhere between Argentina and the Antarctic penincula, wowing tourists with her penguin expertise (and eye-rolling imitations), no doubt.

Sounds like the So-Cal girls missed a fantastic time in P-town! They seem to have the best parties there!! Joan (Ann?) maybe you can link us up to something that shows us where Aileen is, their project? We'd love to emplore the region vicariously. Happy New Year everyone!!

Well, Viola,

to 'emplore' the part of Antartica that Aileen is at, you need to find Peterman Island.

good luck with your vicarious emplorations.

vicarious:
1 a : serving instead of someone or something else b : that has been delegated 2 : performed or suffered by one person as a substitute for another or to the benefit or advantage of another : SUBSTITUTIONARY
3 : experienced or realized through imaginative or sympathetic participation in the experience of another
4 : occurring in an unexpected or abnormal part of the body instead of the usual one

"emplore" is not a word, by the way, mom. "implore" is a word, though.

sorry.
