I pledge allegiance to my stomach.
You can see by my grimace how happy I was to be at the caucus. I told Gina I'd go, but if ANYONE started talking politics with me I was OUTTA THERE !
The lady to my left is Michelle, a neighbor that I met there. If she turned around you would see the cutest little Hillary supporter. 5 months old. Dad was for Obama. go figure. We met and hung out with a bunch of our neighbors.
If I knew the caucus was going to be in the gym, I would have brought a basketball.. How about a game of HORSE to decide who the candidate is ? I've got a left handed hook shot that would put Hillary on the ticket for sure. Or how about a little two-on-two to pick delegates? .. Gina and I could pick and roll those Barack supporters to death. Seems about as fair as the process we went thru.

You went to the caucus and didn't expect anyone to talk politics?! That's the fun of those events - at least I would guess since I've never actually been to one. But, I'm glad you guys participated. You are ablsolutely dead on about the legacy leading to this unprecedented level of participation this year. Hoffmania wrote a nice piece about this on Feb. 9. Well, actually, it was a piece about why he (they?) is supporting Obama. But, included a well stated case for more participation in a democracy. So, good for you!
I have to correct myself. When we were talking about your experience last night, Grady pointed out that we did, in fact, go to the Democratic caucuses during that short time we lived in Seattle. I don't think it was quite such the big deal in 1976 as it is this year. (At least that's my excuse for not remembering.)
But, you maybe onto something with the idea of a basketball game to make the determination.
Of course you know Dad's concept for deciding the new pope is a boxing match between the cardinals...
